A Receipt Scanner That Doesn't Need the Cloud

ReceiptIQ stores everything on your iPhone, requires no account, and on iPhone 16 or newer the AI that reads your receipts — store, date, every line item and price — can run entirely on the device using Apple's on-device models. Even family sharing works without a cloud: up to 4 devices sync directly with each other over your home WiFi. There is no server that ever holds your receipts.

What "no cloud" actually means here

• Storage: receipts, photos, categories, and budgets live in the app's database on your phone. Deleting the app deletes the data. No account exists to leak.
• Scanning: text recognition (OCR) always runs on-device via Apple's Vision framework. On iPhone 16+, the AI understanding step can run on-device too — enable On-Device Processing and receipts never leave the phone. On older iPhones the understanding step uses a processing server, with the receipt image reduced and never stored.
• Family sync: device-to-device over WiFi using peer-to-peer networking. The subscription is proven with Apple's own cryptographic signature, verified on your family member's phone — which is how one purchase can cover 4 devices without any backend account system.
• Backups: optional iCloud backup exists if you want it — your Apple account, your choice, off by default.

Why most receipt apps can't do this

Most receipt scanners are front-ends for a cloud service: the app uploads your receipt, a server parses and stores it, and your subscription pays for that server. That architecture has real conveniences (web access, cross-platform) and a real cost: a company database containing your merchant history, itemized purchases, and habits.
