Receipt Contribution Program: help us read your country's receipts
October 2026 · Xinzhou Liu, developer of ReceiptIQ AI
I build ReceiptIQ AI on my own, from Calgary, Canada. The app photographs a receipt and reads the shop, date, total, tax and every line item with its price. Receipts look different in every country, and the formats I see least are from the countries where the app is used most. Every real receipt I have never seen is a mistake I have not found yet.
So I am inviting a small number of users to help with their own receipts. The program is open country by country: Germany, Austria and Switzerland (Deutsch) and Japan (日本語) first. If you live elsewhere and would like to take part, write to me anyway; I will say honestly whether your country is next.
What a helpful set looks like
- At least 10 receipts from at least 3 different shops, as photos (a phone photo is fine; straight and well lit helps).
- Supermarkets, discounters, drugstores, bakeries, restaurants, petrol stations, pharmacies, hardware stores. Variety matters more than volume: ten receipts from ten shops help more than thirty from one.
Your data
- You may black out or crop anything you consider personal: names, addresses, card numbers, loyalty numbers, medication names. I only need the printed receipt itself: shop, date, items, prices, tax, discounts, total.
- The photos are used only to test and improve receipt recognition, including the recognition models I train. They stay in my private test collection, are never sold or shared, and are never stored on the servers that process scans from the app.
- This program is separate from the app: the app itself never sends receipt photos anywhere. You can ask for your receipts to be deleted at any time by email. Details are in the privacy policy, section 8.
As a thank-you: 6 months of Premium
For every helpful set I send a one-time offer code for 6 months of ReceiptIQ AI Premium, redeemed in the App Store: unlimited scanning, PDF and CSV export, and Family Sharing for up to four iPhones. The code is not tied to your receipts; Apple ties it to your Apple ID only.
The program is deliberately small, about 20 people per country. Once enough different formats are in, I close it and say so here.
How to take part
- Photograph the receipts; black out what you want to.
- Email the photos to [email protected] with the subject "Receipt Program". Several emails are fine if the photos are large.
- I reply within two days with the code, and with what your receipts showed if you are curious.
New to the app? The first 30 entries are free, no account needed, and you can try one receipt in your browser before installing.
Take part: photos of 10+ receipts from 3+ shops to [email protected], subject "Receipt Program".
